Abstract:
This dataset is a series of spatial transcriptomics experiments targeting specific cell types and regions of the brain that have shown gene expression changes with age in the mouse based on scRNA seq data. Regions of the brain were profiled across young adult (2 month) and aged (18 month) male and female C57BL6/J mice using Resolve Bioscience's Molecular Cartography spatial transcriptomics platform.

TechnicalInfo:
Four experiments were performed, each with a separate unique 100 gene panel and targeting different regions of the brain. Each of the 100 gene panels in the experiments was designed to target specific cell types in the brain, and includes candidate DE genes that change with age across these cell types. Each experiment is labeled as Resolve Spatial Transcriptomics Experiment (RSTE) 1-4. RSTE1 includes genes generally targeting non-neuronal types across 4 regions (isocortex, striatum, midbrain, and hindbrain). RSTE2 includes genes generally targeting neurons in the retrosplenial cortex and hippocampus. RSTE3 includes genes generally targeting non-neuronal cells around the third ventricle of the hypothalamus. RSTE4 includes genes generally targeting neurons around the third ventricle of the hypothalamus.
